As far as I know, married foreigners can get a D-visa. You can come back from Canada on your D-visa. There was a posting right here. A foreigner had a D-visa and a Z visa in his passport. He also stated, that married foreigners can get the Permanent Residence Card only after 5 years of marriage with a Chinese citizen.
